It's been a while . . . and I wish I didn't have reason for this post, but . . .
. . . shattered to hear of the sudden passing of Greg Mathews, known to a whole generation of indoor cricketers around Australia as "Snake".
An absolute gentleman on and off the court . . . and a nickname based on his speed and agility.
Greg was, and will forever be, one of the true legends of the sport.
And he will be missed as much for his on-court grace as his off-court generosity and humility.
A great bloke, and in my honest opinion, the best indoor cricketer I have ever played alongside (unfortunately only twice) or umpired (hundreds of times).
RIP mate, forever missed.
